REPUBLICAN ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHERS’ CONFERENCE COMES TO AN END. UZTEA CONFERENCE: DAY 2
08.06.2014 0 comments 1,098
June 8, 2014. This Sunday initiative, active and assiduous English language teachers of Uzbekistan had probably one of the best day off in their career. Plenary by teacher trainers, sessions on different interesting topics on pedagogic skills improvement, discussions with peer teachers, colleagues and representatives of British Council and American embassy enriched the day.
Closing ceremony started at the second half of the day. UzTEa conference tradition – book raffle, presenting the most intriguing moments, let the lucky participants win books in English. At the end of the grand event partners, participants and presenters, as well as, volunteer students from different universities who joined the association got rewarded with certificates of appreciation. Furthermore, according to UzTEA family traditions, the branch of the association who was the most active during a year got presented with Smartphone. This is a reward for hardworking professionals and also a motivation, as one of the organizers of conference, UzTEA Board member Bahromjon Kholikov says.
Conference remarks by organizers and foreign experts displayed that the conference was organized in a high level.
Hilola Yusupova, Teacher trainer (Bukhara):
— It was 6 years ago when I first participated in UzTEA conference and according to some reasons, unfortunately I did not take part in previous conferences. This time I conducted a workshop on new ways of learning English through literature. I noticed that the events have completely changed with new approaches, some new events and components. Six years ago it was a simple event where small number of people participated and now there hundreds of teachers sharing their knowledge and experience.
Rod Bolitho, English language teaching expert (Great Britain)
— I have been in four UzTEA conferences for over the years. I think UzTEA has a very important role in promoting the teaching of English, professional development for teachers of English and also it takes these opportunities to the regions of Uzbekistan. There are branches of UzTEA in every region and they are very active. UzTEA has a penetration into different regions. I think it is a really good idea to increase the number of regional conferences and to have one big conference in the capital.
Byrne Brewerton, English language teaching expert (USA):
— Teachers of English are the porters of globalization in Uzbekistan, because English is a global language. So, English language teachers play an important role in educating the new generation of the country. Conferences of this kind are, certainly, significant in education.
Jessica Star, English language teaching expert (USA):
— I talked about the teaching methods in writing classes and the teachers who participated the workshop had a really open mind and were infused in the activity.
Having been appreciated by international specialists ‘UzTEA conference’ gave one more chance for professionals to exchange ideas and experiences in a rich two-day program which included about 80 sessions by national and international experts. Covering actual issues on English language teaching, such as Communicative Language Learning, Teaching and Assessment (CLLTA), innovative pedagogic methods, online materials for professional development, the conference resulted into a great opportunity to get inspired in future career steps of teachers.
