Bolo-khauz Ensemble.
The emirs worshipped in public across the Registan (now cut in half by Afrasiab street) in its only surviving monument, the Bolo-khauz mosque. Initially it was part of the complex, consisting of madrasah and mosque. Built in 1718 during the reign of Ashtarkhanid Abul’Fayz khan’s (r. 1711-1747) mother. Mosque with a roof extension supported by pillars of elm added in the 19th century when last Mangit dynasty ruled in Bukhara. Its elegant west side is reflected in the 16th century khauz (pool) of its name, and the whole complex is shaded by the trees of Bolo-khauz park. The minaret to the right was built in 1917 by famous Bukharan masters Usto Shirin Muradov and usto Khafizov.
The magnificent roofed gallery was colorfully painted and displaying a multitude of columns.
Now mosque is functional Friday mosque.
