A major environmental danger for humans and living things is the increasing amount of hurricanes and their decreasing speed, and this is due to the major climate changes. If hurricane speeds go up to 180 miles per hour, no one can imagine them as slow, but research shows otherwise. Since the 20th century, hurricanes have started slowing down and are starting to linger around some areas more often than they should. This is bad news for the people that reside in their paths, because hurricanes can cause up to billions od dollars worth of damage. The biggest factor responsible for all of this is due to climate change and its impact on the environment.
Tropical hurricanes are starting to have a negative impact on the earth, because of their decreasing speed, and increasing amount. Between 1949 and 2016, tropical cyclone speeds have decreased by 10 percent worldwide, and they have also started staying in one area for longer periods of time. These lingering hurricanes are the main problem, because they can cause floods that go up to 30 inches in two days and nearly 50 inches over four days in some areas. It was also reported that Hurricane Harvey’s rainfall exceeded every known flood in history since 1899. The high rain falls were caused by the decreasing speeds of the storm, which was caused due to climate change. Climate change is weakening the winds as the temperature beings to increase due to greenhouses gases and their global affect worldwide.
I believe that climate change is a major factor in the decreasing speeds of hurricanes. The hurricanes, which linger in an area for far longer than they should, are proof that global climate change is the main cause of the heavy rainfalls. Also, as the weather starts to increase worldwide, lots of water gets evaporated and forms heavy clouds with tons of water, which then causes all of the rainfall. It is also the main cause of flooding and the natural disasters caused by the slow winds. If the weather stopped increasing and getting warmer, the hurricanes wouldn.t be as much of a problem as they are now, and flooding wouldn’t occur almost every single day throughout the world.
As a result, hurricanes are starting to become a serious crisis due to climate change and its affect on the environment is starting to cause many problems, and it is also buffing natural disasters by a lot. Damages done on cities and areas by hurricanes are much more than repairable, however, if everyone started to look after the earth, we wouldn’t have to face these problems in the future.
