Functional genomics approaches such as 
genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, proteomics, 
and ion omics, have been extensively used to evaluate 
abiotic stress tolerance mechanisms in plants (Cramer 
et al., 2011). These platforms can be utilized to 
improve our ability to discover the genes and path-
ways that control specific traits in response to abiotic 
stress.
Considerable variation lies in cotton germplasm 
and exploring the germplasm may lead to development 
of salt tolerant cultivars. Transcription factors are 
regarded as key regulators of genes expression.
