Ex 1 to revise the old vocabulary; to introduce the new vocabulary

STEP 1: First revise the subjects: English, mother tongue, maths, art, PE and music. Then introduce: mathematics and computers. I can also use the DVD for this purpose.
STEP 2: The pupils do a usual Point and Say activity. Pupil A points and says the number of a picture, Pupil B says the school subject as in the example. The pupils are expected to use: English, mother tongue, mathematics (maths), art, PE or PI, computers and music.
Language Notes
In modern English the school subjects:
a) are not written with capital letters when used in an ordinary sentence:
e.g. I like maths and botany.
b) are written with capital letters when used on timetables and as a name of a room: e.g. Monday: 9.15 Maths; 10.00 Botany; History Room
c) do not have capital letters when used as an adjective: e.g. The history lesson ends at 10.45. The art room is beautiful d) are always written with capital letters when they are languages: e.g.
Uzbek, English, Russian, French, Tajik, etc.
e) PE = Physical Education and PI = Physical Instructions are the same. So in the DVD, mostly PI is used.

Step 1
Read the text below and identify a grammar pattern this text could be used for teaching.

I've always been fascinated by Mexico, even as a child. So I was excited about coming here fromCanada as a foreign correspondent, and since I arrived I haven't been disappointed in anything. It's such a wonderful country full of colours, sounds and smells that are so different from those back home. Before I came here, I'd read thatMexico had a much slower pace of life than Callada - but I soonrealised they weren't talking about Mexico City. Waking up earlyenough to avoid the 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. rush hour wasn't easy at first, but now I'm used to getting up at 5 a.m. every day.
And as for driving here, I'm slowly getting used to it - but when I first arrived I was absolutely terrified of being in a car. This is a cityof 20 million people and it feels like they're all on the road at thesame time. But don't get me wrong, I'm really impressed with the wayMexicans drive, they're amazing. And of course there are ruIes of the road - it just takes a while for a foreigner to get used to them. For example, I've learned to ignore traffic lights. For months Iannoyed every traffic cop in Mexico City by stopping at red lightswhile they were desperately trying to keep the traffic moving. Also I wasn't used to people driving so close to me. In fact you can'tget a Mexican tortilla between one car and another!

Yes, driving in Mexico City is educational and exciting -and it'scertainly a lot less dangerous than walking! I have to admit that I still haven't got used to being a pedestrian here. Can youimagine how difficult it is to cross the road in this city?

I'll never get used to doing that!

Step 2
Design your own grammar activity and post it on the Moodle platform. (Imagine you are designing it for your groupmates; so take into account such factors as age, language level, class size, etc. in terms of your group)

Exchange your designed grammar activity with your peer`s activity and evaluate each other`s work according to E-factor and A-factor.
