In this post-reading activity, the pupils ask and answer the following questions in 
pairs. Help them with the use of the Present Passive.
1) Is Alaska the 50th state of the USA?
2) Where is Alaska located?
3) Where is Hawaii located? 
4) Where is Scotland located?
5) What oceans and seas are the British Isles washed by?
6) Why is geographical position of Great Britain good?

The pupils in pairs discuss and answer the questions:
1) How many parts is Uzbekistan divided into?
2) What are they?
Activity 2b Listen and complete the text. 5 min
Objective: to acquaint pupils with the territorial division of Uzbekistan
STEP 1: The pupils look at the text and predict the information missing in the 
text.
STEP 2: The pupils listen to the DVD and complete the text.
DVD script:
Uzbekistan is divided into 12 regions (viloyat), one autonomous republic of 
Karakalpakstan, and one independent city (Tashkent). The regions are divided 
into 160 districts (tuman).
