2 Chapter I: Phraseology as a branch of linguistics in literary works

The actuality of the research is directed to define the necessity of language learning on the base of comparative study and to show the main peculiarities of translation while translating the phraseological units from English into Uzbek in the literary works.
The object of the research is phraseological units.
The subject of the research is phraseological units in the literary works in English and Uzbek and their translation peculiarities. The use of phraseological units in “The Old Man and The Sea” by E.Hemingway and their translation issues.
The aim of the research is to analyze the ways of translation of phraseological units in the literary works from English into Uzbek are considered to be communicative of speech.
The research work carries out the following particular tasks:

• 
  to study phraseology as a branch of linguistics;
  
• 
  to study the historical development of phraseology;
  
• 
  to study the types and peculiarities of phraseological units;
  
• 
  to study the translation issues of phraseological units;
  
• 
  to study phraseological units of English and Uzbek works and their translation ways;
  

The methodological ground of the research work comprises the theoretical issues of linguists in the field of lexicology, stylistics, comparative linguistics and etc. We have used their books, articles and theses related to the theme of the research. The following methods of inquiry were used in the work:
-comparative analysis (to compare the literary translation of phraseological units from English into Uzbek);
-descriptive method (to describe main points of the research work);
-lingual-cultural analysis (to find out some phraseological units to compare their usage in the source and target languages);
-critical analysis of the literature on the problem of investigation (to analyse scientific issues dedicated to the theme of investigation).
