What is text typology? What are the types of typology?
For translation purposes they adopted Werlich's (1976) typology which comprises five text types: description, narration, exposition, argumentation and instruction, with the latter category being divided into two classes: instruction with option (advertisements, manuals, etc.)
What is the meaning of text typology?
Text typology is concerned with the identification of the criteria leading to theclassification (typology) of texts (or text types, text classes, styles, genres). Depending on the. criteria adopted, there are several possibilities of classifying texts.
What are Katharina Reiss's three main text types?
Reiss identifies three text-types according to their communicative function namely: the informative type (communication of content), the expressive type (communication of artistically organised content) and the operative type (communication of content with a persuasive character).
What is the main idea of Katharina Reiss text type theory?
Abstract: Text typology was proposed in the 1970s, by Katharina Reiss, the pioneer of German School. Built on the concept of equivalence, text typology views the text, rather than the word or sentence, as the level at which communication is achieved and at which equivalence must be sought.
