1.Define the concept of a dictionary word.
a speech sound or series of speech sounds that symbolizes and communicates a meaning usually without being divisible into smaller units capable of independent use.

2. Define the concept of a text word.


The original words of something written, printed, or spoken, in contrast to a summary or paraphrase. A coherent stretch of language that may be regarded as an object of critical analysis.
3. What is a grammatical paradigm of a lexeme (i.e. dictionary word)?
It is a basic abstract unit of meaning, a unit of morphological analysis in linguistics that roughly corresponds to a set of forms taken by a single root word. For example, in English, run, runs, ran and running are forms of the same lexeme, which can be represented as RUN.
4. What do we call a word family?
A word family is a group of words with a common base to which different prefixes and suffixes are added. For example, members of the word family based on the headword, base, stem, or root word work include rework, worker, working, workshop, and workmanship, among others. Similar words are called paronyms.

and explain how they differ from each other.

The term morphology is Greek and is a makeup of morph- meaning 'shape, form', and -ology which means 'the study of something'. Morphology as a sub-discipline of linguistics was named for the first time in 1859 by the German linguist August Schleicher who used the term for the study of the form of words.

The definition of a morpheme is the smallest unit in a language that still has meaning. An example of a morpheme is -est in the word greatest. noun. 3. (linguistics) The smallest linguistic unit within a word that can carry a meaning, such as "un-", "break", and "-able" in the word "unbreakable".
9. Why is discreteness of speech so important?
Discreteness: Language can be said to be built up from discrete units (eg. phonemes in human language). Exchanging such discrete units causes a change in the meaning of a signal. This is an abrupt change, rather than a continuous change of meaning.
10. Define the concept of a root.
The concept root derivation technique creates categories by taking a concept and finding other concepts that are related to it through analyzing whether any of the concept components are morphologically related. A component is a word.
11. Name the types of affixal morphemes and explain how they differ functionally?
There are three main types of affixes: prefixes, infixes, and suffixes. A prefix occurs at the beginning of a word or stem (sub-mit, pre-determine, un-willing); a suffix at the end (wonder-ful, depend-ent, act-ion); and an infix occurs in the middle.
12. How is a stem formed?
"A stem may consist of a single root, of two roots forming a compound stem, or of a root (or stem) and one or more derivational affixes forming a derived stem."
13. Characterize inflectional affixes.
They are listed into three characteristics. Those are derivational affixes always change the part of speech and the meaning of the word, it can call affixation process such as the word sad as an adjective is added by suffix ness become sadness as a noun.

"There are eight regular morphological inflections, or grammatically marked forms, that English words can take: plural, possessive, third-person singular present tense, past tense, present participle, past...
15. What kind of morphemes are called free morphemes?
A free morpheme is a morpheme (or word element) that can stand alone as a word. It is also called an unbound morpheme or a free-standing morpheme. A free morpheme is the opposite of a bound morpheme, a word element that cannot stand alone as a word. Many words in English consist of a single free morpheme.

17. Define the concept of allomorphs
In linguistics, an allomorph is a variant phonetic form of a morpheme, or, a unit of meaning that varies in sound and spelling without changing the meaning. The term allomorph describes the realization of phonological variations for a specific morpheme.
