Plan (Contents) of the lesson

  1. Translating original stylistic devices functioning in the literary texts (pun, allusion, repetition, etc.).

  2. Translating extracts from literary texts. Comparative analysis of SL and TL literary texts.


The aim of the lesson: Developing theoretical knowledge and practical skills connected with the problems of translation of literary texts; developing skills needed for translating stylistic devices and carrying out the comparative analysis of SL and TL literary texts.



Pedagogical objectives

The results of training activity

  • Expanding knowledge on the problems of translation of literary texts;

  • Expanding knowledge on the specific features of the problem of equivalence in translating stylistic devices in the literary texts and developing skills on the use of different ways of translating stylistic devices;

  • Expanding knowledge about the distinguishing features of comparative translation analysis of literary texts and developing skills needed for the comparative analysis of SL and TL literary texts.


  • Outlining the main problems and peculiarities of translation of literary texts;




  • Clarifying the specific features of equivalence in the translation of literary texts and applying the ways of rendering stylistic devices to the translating process;




  • Clarifying the distinguishing features of comparative translation analysis of literary texts and carrying out the comparative translation analysis to SL and TL literary texts.
