Plan (Contents) of the lesson

  1. Absence of grammatical correspondences (syntactical level);

  2. Partial correspondence;

  3. Absolute constructions in English;

  4. Active and passive voice.




The aim of the lesson: Developing general theoretical knowledge and practical skills for dealing with grammatical problems of translation: expanding knowledge and developing skills on the issues connected with the absence of grammatical correspondences; clarifying the main factors characterizing the partial grammatical correspondence; expanding knowledge on the distinctive features of absolute constructions in English and developing skills on the ways of their translation; expanding knowledge on the use of active and passive voice in English and developing skills on the ways and techniques of their translation;



Pedagogical objectives

The results of training activity

  • Deepening and developing knowledge on the types of grammatical correspondences;

  • Expanding knowledge and developing skills on the issues connected with the absence of grammatical (syntactical) correspondences;

  • Expanding knowledge and developing skills on the issues concerned with partial grammatical correspondences;




  • Expanding knowledge and developing skills needed for translation of absolute participle constructions;

  • Expanding knowledge and developing skills needed for translation of the active and passive voice forms.

  • Clarifying the main factors characterizing the distinctive features of grammatical correspondences between the SL and TL;

  • Clarifying the cases illustrating the absence of grammatical (syntactical) correspondences and identifying the techniques for rendering syntactical structures having no correspondences in TL;

  • Clarifying the cases illustrating the partial grammatical correspondences and identifying the techniques for translating English grammatical forms and structures with partial correspondences in TL;

  • Clarifying distinctive features of the English absolute participle constructions and the ways and techniques of their translation;




  • Clarifying and applying the ways and techniques for rendering the active and passive voice forms;
