Model:, as fierce as a lion —йўлбарсдек йиртқич, свирепый как тигр.
The difficulty in the translation is that it is a stylistic device — simile.
It is based on the realization of cruelty as a quality which is typical of a lion in English, but in Uzbek and Rus­sian it is typical of tiger. The way of translation is compensation.
The difficulty in the translation rests on it; it is a S. D. — simile.
1. Nicholas peeped into it, and behold, it was full of coloured pictures of birds. (H. Munro.)

  1. Types of grammatical correspondences between two languages.

  2. Absence of grammatical correspondences (morphological level).

  3. Rendering of non-finite forms of the verbs




The aim of the lesson: Developing theoretical knowledge and practical skills on grammatical problems of translation; clarifying the factors characterizing the degrees of grammatical correspondences; expanding theoretical and practical knowledge and developing skills on the issues connected with the absence of grammatical correspondences; expanding knowledge on non-finite forms of the verbs in English and developing skills on the ways of their translation.

  • Expanding knowledge about the grammatical problems of translation;

  • Deepening and developing knowledge on the types of grammatical correspondences;

  • Developing knowledge and skills on the issues concerned with the absence of grammatical correspondences;

  • Expanding knowledge on the problems of rendering non-finite forms of verbs;

  • Developing skills needed to translate the English non-finite forms of verbs;




  • Systematizing data on the grammatical features typical of English and the types of grammatical correspondences in translation;

  • Clarifying the main factors characterizing the distinctive features of grammatical correspondences between the SL and TL;

  • Clarifying the cases illustrating the absence of grammatical correspondences (e.g. articles) and applying the techniques for rendering of non-equivalents;

  • Clarifying distinctive features of the non-finite forms of verbs in English and the ways of their translation into other languages;

  • Clarifying and applying the ways and techniques for rendering of the English non-finite forms of verbs;
